For the holidaymaker who prefers to leave the crowds, there are plenty of alternatives. The three islands, Île de Porquerolles, Île du Levant and Île de Port Cros, are known as the 'Golden Islands'. There are enough hidden anchor bays and small marinas in this area.
The prices of the marinas are at a high level in the summer.

The local authorities have put a lot of effort into having a more attractive appearance, especially for the surroundings of Marseille. The old port is now a pleasant and safe place surrounded by excellent restaurants.

Sailing in this area is a very good alternative to the Costa Brava in Spain. Greece, Croatia and Turkey remain the top destinations with beautiful natural bays and anchorages.
